People's Liberation Party ("we," "our," "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) of the Republic of Ghana. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you register as a member or use our membership management system.

Our Commitment: We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with Ghanaian law.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information for the following purposes:

  • Membership Administration: Processing your registration, maintaining your member profile, and issuing your membership ID.
  • Communication: Sending you important notices about party activities, meetings, and events.
  • Verification: Verifying your identity when you exercise your membership rights or request services.
  • Organization: Assigning you to the appropriate geographic structure (region, constituency, polling station).
  • Reporting: Generating anonymous statistical reports about membership demographics and trends.
  • Compliance: Complying with legal obligations under Ghanaian law.
  • Security: Protecting the integrity of our membership system and preventing fraud.

Communications: By providing your email and phone number, you consent to receive electronic communications from us related to your membership. You may opt out of non-essential communications at any time.

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • Within the Party: Your information is accessible to party officials at the national, regional, constituency, and polling station levels as necessary for party administration.
  • Service Providers: We may engage trusted third-party service providers to assist in operating our systems (e.g., hosting, email delivery). These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order).
  • With Your Consent: We may share your information for other purposes with your explicit consent.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your membership is active and for a period of five (5) years after membership termination for the following purposes:

  • To comply with legal obligations.
  • To establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
  • For historical and statistical purposes (anonymized where possible).

After the retention period, your data will be securely deleted or anonymized so that it can no longer be associated with you.

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including:

  • Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
  • Access controls restricting data access to authorized personnel only.

While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than Ghana where our service providers are located. These countries may have different data protection laws. However, we take steps to ensure that your data receives the same level of protection as required under Ghanaian law.

If you are an international member residing outside Ghana, by registering with us, you consent to the transfer of your data to Ghana and other countries where we operate.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:

  • Posting the new policy on this page with an updated effective date.
  • Sending an email notification to registered members.
  • Displaying a notice on our website.
